When I hit my switch to bring the car up, it goes up but comes right back down. Why? When a car does this, the way to check what’s wrong is to first close the slow down, then hit the switch to bring the car up. If the car comes up and stays up, then it’s your dump that’s not working. If the car comes back down, then it is your check valve.
My dump does not click or do anything, but I have power going to the dump from the switch. The most common problem is not the dump. The dump may be getting power, but it doesn’t have a good ground. When grounding a dump, a good ground would be a metal area like your battery rack or any metal that goes to your rack. The block, or any part on the pump is not a good ground because aluminum is not a good conductor of electricity.
How do I know which solenoid is out on my car so that I don’t have to change them all? The first thing to do is remove the cable going from the solenoid to your motor. Now, connect the ground and use a volt meter. Place the negative of the volt meter to ground (metal) and positive to the stud on the solenoid. Hit the switch. Power should read on the volt meter all the way through on each stud of each solenoid. If one doesn’t, that is the solenoid that’s bad.
What type of oil do I use? Is transmission fluid okay? Transmission fluid is not the recommended oil for hydraulic pumps, although it was used in the past. What is recommended is either hydraulic fluid of 30 wt. or 10-30 motor oil.
I have four batteries, two pumps and two solenoids. Why do I need to keep replacing my solenoids? Improper grounding could be the problem. To keep the solenoids from burning out, you need to make sure that you are grounding the blocks to metal, such as the frame or the battery rack.
Can I get a standing three-wheel with your two pump kit? No, you either need a three or four pump kit with coil over in the rear. (But you can get a rolling three-wheel with a two pump kit.)
